Colorado Office of Early Childhood, Division of Early Care & Learning announced on 9/30/20 there are new background check rules in effect.
Prospective employees and individuals of applicable child care facilities now must complete background checks for all states they have resided in for the past 5 years.
New Requirements
The background checks must include:
State Criminal History Check
- Must be completed using the approved state agency of previous residence procedures;
- Searching a public-facing judicial website does not satisfy this requirement,
- This check may be conducted using a fingerprint or name-based check.
State Sex Offender Registry Check
- Must be completed using the approved state agency of previous residence procedures;
- This check may be conducted using a fingerprint or name-based check.
State Child Abuse and Neglect Registry Check
- This is a name-based search
